Ched Evans is just like the hillsborough disaster
So says Gordon Taylor. How many minutes silence will this get?!

From the been:

Gordon Taylor has risked further controversy by appearing to compare the Ched Evans case with the Hillsborough tragedy.
After the convicted rapist's move to Oldham collapsed, the Professional Footballers' Association chief executive was asked about Evans's insistence that he is innocent.
"He wouldn't have been the first person to be found guilty, maintained their innocence and been proved right. We know what happened with Hillsborough," Taylor told BBC Sport.
"It's now unravelling and very different to how it was portrayed at the time - indeed by the police at the time."
Following a long campaign by families, new inquests are being held to investigate how 96 Liverpool fans died as a result of the Hillsborough stadium disaster on 15 April 1989.
Click here to listen to Taylor's comments.
Taylor did not elaborate further on this point, but said it would be "very difficult" for Evans, 26, to stay in football following the League One club's change of heart.
More than 70,000 people had signed a petition calling on Oldham not to sign Evans, while a number of campaigners and politicians voiced opposition to the move.
"Having done a sentence, he is entitled to return", Taylor said. "There will have to be quite a difference in the tide of opinion [for him to play professional football again] but I do think it may help when they know he is genuinely apologetic for the consequences of what happened.
"He's been put through the wringer and the minute you show any sympathy for Ched people will say 'what about the other parties concerned?'.
Would any League One/Two side sign Evans?
Read the responses when BBC Sport contacted all 48 clubs.
"Nobody's forgetting them. But as far as he's concerned, he's looking to keep himself fit. This Oldham situation has not made things any better for him so it may well now take some time."
The former Manchester City and Sheffield United striker was jailed in April 2012 for raping a woman, 19, at a north Wales hotel in 2011. He was released in October 2014 after serving half of a five-year sentence.
On Thursday Evans apologised for the "effects of his actions", but continued to maintain his innocence. He later issued a further statement blaming "mob rule" for the deal's collapse, claiming "the more radical elements of our society" had the "desired influence on some sponsors".
Oldham chief executive Neil Joy said there had been "vile and abusive threats, including death threats, made to our fans, sponsors and staff" over the proposed signing.

Let him play...Taylor is correct...

but using Hillsboro as an analogy was unwise...

Re: Ched Evans is just like the hillsborough disaster
Well, they would probably have to put fences up to stop some nutter trying to get on the pitch to attack him. As much as I think he should play again I also believe its gonna get messy with away fans goading him and it could get really nasty. The club would hae to hire loads more stewards, the list goes on an on

Yes, I believe he ruffled her hair after he had had his WAY with her.
Just like John Aldridge did to Brian Laws who had scored an o.g in the replay of the Hillsborough match.
Also there was a crush outside the hotel window as his mates peered in to watch.
It's uncanny the coincidences really

Tony Adams got Aldridge back for that pat when Arsenal won the league at Anfield. Clearly seen on tv as well

Anyone with half a brain will understand the point he was trying to make. Sadly, scousers are not known for their intelligence and so I expect over zealous outrage and people pretending to take offence.

Taylor is a cunt, but if he were to be found innocent, at some point in the future, clubs would be falling over themselves to get his signature. Top of that list I would imagine, would be Sheffield Utd.

The bbc radio news presented it this morning as Taylor 'risking further controversy ' as obviously nobody is worked up into a faux frenzy yet so it has to be built up out of nothing.

If Evans is cleared then it is a different argument but whilst he remains a convicted rapist I simply do not understand those who say he should be able to walk back into football.
He has the right to earn a living but like many other ex-cons not necessarily in the profession he chooses or previously operated in, whether he and Graham Taylor like it or not football at the level he wants to play comes with other responsibilities that allow players to earn the kind of income they do and if an individual becomes a liability in meeting those then they should expect to find a new career, unfortunately football is so morally bankrupt it has a problem helping itself and we end up with situations like this.

If I got nicked and sent to prison for rape, I wouldn't walk back into my old job.

Plenty of other jobs ched could do.

LFC should withdraw the players from all activity- including playing- until Gordon Taylor apologises AND resigns+takes Evans with him #JFT96

I'm no fan of Taylor but can understand the point he is making.
However, as per Talksport this morning, await an outpouring of complaints from those professional whiners otherwise known as scousers.

It's bloody ridiculous. Mr Outraged is alive and well.

I heard what was said by Gordon Taylor and it was quite simply him comparing Evans protestations of innocence to the Hillsborough victims protestations against the official verdict.

Mr Taylor clearly thinks like a lot of people that the judgement against Evans might prove to be as wrong as the initial verdict on Hillsborough.

Russ of the BML 10:31 Fri Jan 9
Re: Ched Evans is just like the hillsborough disaster
He has a point. It took the Scousers a long time to get their forced whitewash. Evans may have to wait too. If it does come out of his appeal he was not guilty or there were other circumstances then do people still castigate him everywhere he goes?

I think the big question you have to ask yourself is this? If you work for a large orgnanisation, as I do, and you were convicted of rape would you get the job you are doing at the moment?

I wouldn't as my organisation that sets high levels of staff conduct. But there would be nothing stopping another company with different policies employing me.

It's the same with Evans. Any other football club can take him on but it just depends on what their stance on it is. Or more likely what theire supporters and sponsors stance on it is.

Re: Ched Evans is just like the hillsborough disaster
A 'car crash' of an analogy in today's precious society.

The scousers will demand a day of mourning over that statement.

Russ,
If I were an asset that was potentially worth millions to a company then were I in a position that was no danger to the public I reckon I could walk back in. I think most would.

lincshammer 10:38 Fri Jan 9
Re: Ched Evans is just like the hillsborough disaster
The fact is in most professions if you handed a CV in with a two year gap on and was asked to explain and you told them you were doing time for Rape you wouldn't get the job.

As for Taylor's comments I'm not one who holds the scousers in high regard but it was a stupid anaolgy to use even if i can see what he meant. For someone with his experience and position he should really have know better and how it would be spun in the media.

As the pfa are supporting evans I wonder if they would support a player or players saying im not playing with that rapist cunt and wont have anything to do with him?
